Sunday 10th September – windsurfing *** The Dip - Felixstowe – cloudy with showers:(

27.52kt. max, 25.51kt. ave., 3.92kt. hr., 18.68kt. mile, 12.3 km., 10.52kt. alpha.

It was always going to be hit and miss today with the wind building strong by midday to coincide with high tide, with a SW options were not great:( The day started great with wall to wall sunshine so even managed to do my exercises in the garden then had breakfast while watching ‘Sunday Bunch’ waiting for the wind to build and swing onshore. A couple had said on Facebook that they were heading down to The Dip so with winds gusting to 20 knots and SW I hitched up the trailer and headed down with Mag. The sun had long gone and the wind was right along the prom gusting to 25 kts so as Mag had a blustery walk home I rigged 6m on the 282. With the tide approaching high there was not much beach and you had to wait for a gust to get you off the beach with the wind being a fraction off. Once off you had to get past a couple of long lobster pot lines right in front of the launch area, there are some complete idiots laying these pots with no consideration for others:( ‘Save the Lobster I say’ Being by myself and as it was windy and rough I only ventured out to the red and white bouy, where the sea was huge! I had my autumn wetsuit on and the sleeves were a bit on the tight side so it was a case of out and back, then recover! I was getting 25/26 kt runs and then with the tide at its highest I managed a couple of scary 27 kt runs. I was joined by a kitesurfer for a while but sadly no windsurfers. A group of parents and children came down to the next groyne and spent 20 minutes in the rough sea with body boards, they must be bonkers! The sky darkened and it rained soaking several walkers on the prom and with the wind turning even more off and all over the place I decided to call it a day! After packing up I drove home via The Fludgers and it was all but unsailable with the tide high and the chop really bad! More wind tomorrow so hope to meet up with some mates at Point Clear in Essex:)
